Book Campaign
Help us publish Carried Through Loss and reach 700 bereaved parents
A gentle guide for parents after the death of a child.
When a child dies, a parent’s world is shattered.
Carried Through Loss was written to offer compassionate, practical support in the early days of grief, when everything can feel overwhelming, confusing, and impossible to put into words.
Through this campaign, we aim to raise £7,000 to £10,000 to publish the book as a paperback, eBook, and audiobook, and place copies into the hands of bereaved parents who need support.
About the book
Carried Through Loss is not a memoir.
It is a gentle first-aid resource for parents after the death of a child.
Written from both lived experience and professional grief support, the book explores the emotional, physical, relational, spiritual, and practical impact of grief.
It covers areas such as:
- the early fog of grief
- difficult emotions such as anger, guilt, regret, relief, and hopelessness
- how grief affects the body and energy
- surviving the first days after loss
- what people say and how to protect yourself
- digital grief and protecting yourself online
- grief as a family
- navigating work after loss
- faith, anger, and unanswered questions
- seeking support and finding safe spaces
The book does not rush healing. It offers reassurance, language, and support for parents who may feel lost, overwhelmed, or alone.
Why This Book Matters
Many bereaved parents are left to navigate the death of a child with little practical support.
They may be told to be strong.
They may feel pressure to return to normal.
They may not know how to explain what they need.
They may feel forgotten once everyone else appears to move on.
This book gently reminds them:
You are not grieving wrongly.
You do not have to rush.
You are not alone.
Carried Through Loss Was Written By Detola Amure, Founder of My Little Warrior Child CIC.
Detola lost her son, Morakinyo Caleb, two days before Christmas in 2018. In the early days after his death, she searched for a practical and compassionate guide to help her make sense of what she was feeling, but struggled to find the kind of resource she needed.
This book is the resource she wished she had then.
Her own journey through grief led her to become a certified Grief Specialist and to create My Little Warrior Child CIC in remembrance of Morakinyo, to support other parents and families after child loss.
Our Campaign Goal
We are raising £10,000 to support the publishing, production, and distribution of Carried Through Loss.
The funds raised will help cover:
- editing and proofreading
- cover design
- professional publishing support
- paperback production
- eBook formatting
- audiobook production
- printing and distribution
- postage and packaging
- campaign and processing costs
Our goal is to reach at least 700 bereaved parents with this resource.

As one of the many forgotten parents, I’ve spent a quarter of my life voluntarily helping others navigate this journey through child loss. The one thing missing until now is a written explanation of what to expect at any time and in any order. If there were a manual for the healing process following the loss of a child this would be it. The explanations of isolation and confusion make things a little bit clearer. A must read for angel parents and for anyone supporting a family facing loss.

Having worked with many people who are grieving, nothing prepares you for the devastating loss of a child, no matter what the circumstances. Very few have the right words. There is very little out there in terms of support that is actually helpful when parents and families are in the immediate aftermath of a child dying. Detola fills this gap with Carried Through Loss. It is like a gentle, warm hug that helps you start to make sense of what is going on in one of life’s cruelest moments.

Carried Through Loss is a compassionate, easy-to-follow guide that supports parents navigating the loss of a child. Its clear structure and thoughtful “Gentle Pause” reflections encourage emotional check-ins and help readers honour their own grief. Drawing from lived and professional experience, this book offers both comfort and practical guidance. It is a valuable resource I would confidently recommend in supporting families through loss. Thank you, Detola, for helping parents feel seen, supported, and less alone in their grief.

I have trained over 900 people to help others move beyond grief and loss and Detola is someone who stood out from the moment I met her. This book will be invaluable for anyone who is suffering the loss of a child or who knows someone who is and wants to support them in the best way possible.
